Organ harvesting Empty
PostSubject: Organ harvesting   Organ harvesting I_icon_minitimeWed Sep 12, 2012 7:17 pm

Organ harvesting should definitely be legal. First off, one of the major points to address in this matter would be the fact stated in "Selling Human Organs" that says about 7,000 people in the U.S. alone died due to a lack of organs available for donation. If we legalized organ harvesting for money hospitals would have many more organs available to them from people looking to make money. Not to say everyone will go to a hospital for money, many people could just be selling their organs to someone on the street or something like that but honestly so what? it's your body you can do what you want with it really. The Government didn't make your body so why should they be able to say what we can and can't do with it. Let people find out for themselves that not every organ will bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars and make them rich. Just like it says in "Which Organs Can I Live Without?" some organs are pretty cheap and the donator doesn't always get a good cut of the money. Soon people will see that hospitals are probably the best way to go in giving an organ, not an unprofessional environment which could be extremely un-sanitary and really not worth it at all. Also if we continue to let the people think they are being held back by not being able to sell their own organs then crimes of this category will just continue. Basically I'm just saying if we legalize organ harvesting then crimes that deal with this will definitely be cut down and hospitals and people that truly need someone to donate an organ will greatly benefit, and it really won't take people that long for people to start realizing giving your organs to places like the black market or some random guy on the street is not a good idea. So if we legalize it and give it time organ harvesting would definitely work out to be a good decision.
As I mentioned above there is also the worry about the individuals looking to sell organs going to the black market and having someone take their organs in a back alley somewhere which is very valid fear, but legalizing this does not mean in any way that everyone is going to go out and do it like that. Think of tattoo shops, of course you could take a sharp object dip it in ink and try to make your own and probably give yourself infections and diseases but most people go to a professional tattoo artist to get it done in a sterile environment anyway. What evidence is there to say organ selling will be any different? Just because we legalize it does not mean in any way that everyone will go out and let some random person take their organs with a rusty butter knife. Of course there will be the people that go out and have it done that way but there will always be that variable of someone doing something stupid in anything at all. There is no way to fully stop illegal or mindless activity from occuring so why try so hard to stop it. So bottom line, organ harvesting should definitely be legal.
